The Qualification
What is the Bar Transfer Test?
The Bar Transfer Test (BTT) is a professional qualification that enables foreign-qualified lawyers — including those trained in Pakistan — to become barristers in England and Wales, without completing the full UK academic route from scratch.
It is regulated by the Bar of England and Wales and assessed across eight core modules that focus on advocacy, litigation, and professional practice. For Pakistani lawyers, it is the most direct and prestigious route to earning the Barrister-at-Law title.
Unlike the traditional UK path which requires years of undergraduate study, the BTT recognises your existing legal qualification and builds on it — translating your Pakistani legal education into a globally recognised UK credential.
Lincoln Law prepares students for all eight BTT modules through structured teaching, advocacy practice, and mentorship from practising Supreme Court advocates — delivered around your professional schedule.
Why the BTT Matters
- Earn the Barrister-at-Law title — the most prestigious in Pakistani legal culture
- Recognised by the Bar of England and Wales globally
- Practise at the English Bar or leverage the title in Pakistan and internationally
- No need to restart from undergraduate level in the UK
- Designed specifically for foreign-qualified lawyers
- Opens access to international arbitration panels
- Commands higher fees and greater credibility in Pakistan's courts
— Who It’s For
Built for lawyers who refuse to be limited.
The BTT is designed for practising lawyers and law graduates in Pakistan who want international recognition without putting their careers on hold.
Court Lawyers

What exactly is the Bar Transfer Test (BTT)?
The BTT is a professional qualification regulated by the Bar of England and Wales. It enables foreign-qualified lawyers — including those trained in Pakistan — to become barristers without completing the full UK undergraduate route. It covers eight core modules and is the direct path to the Barrister-at-Law title.
Do I need to travel to the UK to complete the BTT?
Preparation is done entirely at Lincoln Law in Pakistan. However, the BTT assessments themselves and the formal call to the Bar are administered in the UK through your Inn of Court. Lincoln Law will guide you through this process in full.
I have an LLB but haven't practised yet. Am I eligible?
How is the BTT different from just doing a UK LLB?
A UK LLB typically takes three years of full-time undergraduate study in the UK. The BTT recognises your existing Pakistani legal qualification and provides a direct route to the Bar — in six months, without relocating. It is specifically designed for foreign-qualified lawyers, not for students starting from scratch.
Can I study online if I'm not based in Karachi?
Yes. Lincoln Law offers a fully online mode for students outside Karachi. All lectures are recorded, live sessions are held on weekends, and you’ll have full access to faculty and course materials remotely. Some students combine online study with occasional campus visits for advocacy practice.
What happens at the admissions interview?
The interview is a conversation — not a test. We’ll discuss your legal background, your reasons for pursuing the BTT, and the study mode that best fits your schedule. It’s also your opportunity to ask us anything. Most interviews take 20–30 minutes, in person or online.
How many places are available in the June 2026 cohort?
What support do students get beyond the classroom?
Lincoln Law students have direct access to their faculty — both founders are practising Supreme Court advocates who remain involved throughout the programme. Beyond academic support, we provide guidance on the Inn of Court application process, UK Bar requirements, and career direction after qualification.
